sadness

wow.....driving home from work today the sadness was overwhelming..........also i feel soooo damn naive...........i really thought yesterday was all about qualification, morals, values, ability.........NOT RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however i found out i was wrong!!!!!! and i'm sad........
i am NOT a racist............and i voted for the man i think can do the best job to bring this country back to greatness.........however when i hear people talking about "the first african-american" it makes me sad........can't this just be about his abilities......not the color of his skin.......... i'm just sad.........

A Mom I know was telling me that her 8 year old right before the election said this, "Mom, don't you want to vote for the first african american for president?"
The Mom's response was.....I'm going to vote for the man that I think is best qualifed for the job....whether he is African American or not." The boy responded by saying, "but my teacher said we should vote to have the first African American to be president."

It's sad to hear race be a primary focus to be elected.

It was also sad to hear the media say.....Obama got the black vote. Well after the election a black woman who holds a high level management job in a national food company in my town say....."he didn't get my vote...I just didn't think he was qualified for the job."

Well.....all we can hope for is that the man elected rises to the challenges and instills unity to a troubled nation.
